How to Prevent and Remove Wrinkles on a Tie

It’s a lot easier to stop wrinkles from happening on a tie than to eliminate them. You can follow these simple tips and always have wrinkle-free ties.

Roll the tie up loosely while storing it. Do not hang the tie for long periods as this will create a permanent wrinkle in it. To roll a tie, begin by holding the narrow end and then twisting up the remaining part of the tie, with the wide end on the outside. Lay the roll onto a level surface onto the back side side. This will ease the wrinkles out in a few hours, leaving your tie fresh to be used again.

If the tie is stored knotted, permanent wrinkles can form. To untie the knot, then follow the measures of knot tying in reverse order. Hurriedly untying the knot will indicate pulling hard in the tie which may cause wrinkles.

The tie knot should have the right amount of tightness. Too tight a knot may cause wrinkles.

Hanging for a few hours will remove the wrinkles which form due to sporting.

You may even roll a tie out in a clean towel and leave it wrapped for a day or 2. This removes most wrinkles from the tie. This blend of rolling and hanging functions like a charm with the majority of wrinkles.

It is also possible to lightly iron the tie (without steam) in low temperatures. Hot ironing is not great for ties as it weakens the fabric. Utilize the appropriate cloth setting for the tie whilst ironing.

To prevent wrinkles from forming through traveling, loosely roll the tie up and be certain there is enough space in the baggage for the roll, other garments shouldn’t squeeze the roll. If you travel a lot, you need to consider investing in a tie case.

For cleaning provide the tie to the dry cleaners rather than hand or machine washing the sticks. These kinds of washings will put permanent wrinkles on your tie.

Keep a few days space between wearing the same tie. This allows the tie to return to it’s wrinkle-free state.

You can also steam the wrinkles out by hanging the tie in the bathroom during a hot shower, or by holding it on a kettle with steam. You must not allow water to touch the tie however. To wash the tie, roll it up in a clean towel and leave for a single day.
